New Mindset, New Results

Updated: Apr 16, 2019

“You are the master of your destiny. You can influence, direct, and control your own environment. You can make your life what you want it to be.” Napoleon Hill

How often do we wish for things to be better and make excuses for why things are not working the way we want them to go? I know in my almost 59 years I am guilty of this on many occasions and realise looking back how different some of my results would have been if I had changed my own mindset on how to achieve what at that time seemed achievable.

Recently I worked with a team who had in front of them what seemed like an unachievable target and the fact that they had been asked to attend a workshop with me was considered something as a “waste of time” – nothing could change where they were as there were so many reasons why they couldn’t achieve their targets!

When I asked them to imagine the possibilities if there were no barriers to success I know they were thinking I was crazy however, after some assuring that I was not trying to trick them they developed some fantastic ideas.

Using some of the tools and insights I had gained from the Thinking into Results programme and combining that with some Value Innovation methodology the team worked towards presenting many ideas which when discussed created excitement and a renewed determination to achieve success.

The key to helping the team change their way of thinking was through shifting their paradigms as to their way of thinking about “the hurdles” they had created. Our paradigms are the key to achieving or not achieving success both in our personal and professional lives. Our paradigms are created from an early age as a person or as a company through the way things have been done which forms the habits or routine or a person or organisation. Breaking paradigms is not easy but can be done and once understood and worked upon can make the difference between Good and Great!

Challenge your mindset next time you think or hear – It cannot be done! What would need to happen to make it possible!
